KOOHI GOTH WOMEN'S HOSPITAL & SCHOOL OF NURSING

Koohi Goth Women Hospital was established in 2005 partnering with Atia Zafar Foundation. Koohi Goth Hospital (KGH) has offered unique services to women and children to not only to the  surrounding areas but services all over Karachi and Pakistan . They provide extensive education on a rare condition called fistula, or excessive vaginal leakage of urine and stool due to childbirth.  Even more staggering are the statistics. Roughly 100,000 women experience this condition worldwide! Women who incurred onset of fistula (among other gynecological issues) are being treated surgically and other assistance is given to the patients, like teaching them some home skills. KGH is one of the few hospitals in Pakistan, which has expertise on Obstetrics and Gynecological issues. As such, this is a safe haven for women in the area.

Besides being a women hospital, KGH has a palliative care facility of 8 bed, which admits terminally ill patient and patient are treated with dignity and honor.

In outpatient department KGH sees about 100 women and 30 Children per day and more than 30 surgeries are performed per week. KGH 200 bed facility is almost full to its capacity. KGH has latest equipment. KGH is a teaching hospital approved for young doctors for post-graduate programs.

KGH has a mid-wifery, a 2 year program were almost 180 students are enrolled and 90 graduate each year. Besides that, KGH runs a program for registered Nurses, on how to become a tutor.  KGH has state of the art Hostel for Students who are admitted from other parts of Pakistan. KGH is mainly run on solar energy.

Our core missions are to encapsulate humanity and provide excellent care to indigent populations. We attribute this success to Dr. Shershah Syed, Dr. Saboohi Medhi, and Dr. Sarwan Kumar. Each expert’s assistance highlighted our drive to improve health and education. KGH has been awarded several awards including Clinton Global award and Hamdan (UAE) award for excellence in indigent care.

KGH do have some struggle on funds to sustain our current retention levels. As it stands, Koohi Goth Hospital  has opened its doors to patients during COVID-19. Seventy of our two-hundred beds are available to the public. However, race, gender, sexuality, and social status are not limiters to this organization. No woman should be stigmatized for pain or discomfort in her body. This is one of the first hospital in Pakistan, where there is no cashier or cashier counter and all healthcare facilities given to women and children are at no cost. National Health Forum, Inc is partner with KGH since its inception in 2007 and will continue to support this great cause.
